  • Shivapuri Trekking

Shivapuri Trekking offers a refreshing escape into nature, just a short distance from Kathmandu’s bustling streets. Located within the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, this trek takes you through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, home to diverse wildlife like leopards, deer, and over 300 bird species. The highlight is the Shivapuri Peak (2,732m), which rewards hikers with panoramic views of the Kathmandu Valley and snow-capped Himalayan peaks, including Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The trek is ideal for those seeking a peaceful day hike or a weekend camping adventure, with trails suitable for beginners and seasoned trekkers alike.

Beyond its natural beauty, Shivapuri holds cultural and spiritual significance as the source of the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers, considered sacred by Hindus. Along the trail, you’ll encounter Buddhist monasteries, meditation caves, and stone stupas, adding a serene spiritual touch to the journey. The trek can be completed in 5-7 hours, making it perfect for a day trip, while longer routes allow for overnight stays at campsites or homestays in nearby Tamang villages. Whether you’re looking for solitude, birdwatching, or stunning sunrise views, Shivapuri Trekking blends nature, culture, and adventure seamlessly—all within easy reach of Kathmandu.
