  • Manaslu Circuit Trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular yet less-traveled Himalayan adventures, offering a perfect blend of raw natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and thrilling high-altitude trekking. Circling the majestic Mount Manaslu (8,163m), the world’s eighth-highest peak, this trek takes you through remote villages, lush forests, dramatic gorges, and high mountain passes, culminating in the challenging Larkya La (5,160m).

Unlike the more commercialized Everest and Annapurna routes, the Manaslu region remains relatively untouched, providing an authentic and serene trekking experience. With restricted access requiring a special permit, the trail sees fewer trekkers, ensuring an intimate encounter with Nepal’s pristine wilderness and traditional Tibetan-influenced cultures.

Trip Itinerary

  • Day 1: : Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (710m) – 8-9 Hours
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu through Nepal’s rural landscapes, following the Trishuli and Budhi Gandaki rivers. The road winds through terraced fields and traditional villages before reaching Soti Khola, a small riverside settlement where you’ll spend the night.
  • Day 02:: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (930m) – 6-7 Hours
The trek officially starts with a walk along the Budhi Gandaki River, crossing suspension bridges and passing through subtropical forests. You’ll encounter small waterfalls and local Gurung villages before arriving at Machha Khola ("Fish River"), a charming hamlet with basic teahouses.
  • Day 3: : Machha Khola to Jagat (1,410m) – 6-7 Hours
The trail continues upstream, navigating rocky paths and crossing several bridges. You’ll pass through Khoralabesi and Tatopani (natural hot springs) before ascending to Jagat, a picturesque village marking the entry point of the Manaslu Conservation Area.
  • Day 4: : Jagat to Deng (1,860m) – 6-7 Hours
Leaving Jagat, the path climbs through terraced fields and pine forests, offering glimpses of Shringi Himal. You’ll pass through Salleri and Sirdibas before descending to the Budhi Gandaki Valley and reaching Deng, a village with strong Tibetan cultural influences.
  • Day 5: : Deng to Namrung (2,630m) – 6-7 Hours
The trail ascends steadily through forests of rhododendron and pine, crossing the river multiple times. You’ll pass through Prok and Ghap, where the architecture shifts to Tibetan-style stone houses. Namrung, a scenic village with stunning mountain views, is your stop for the night.
  • Day 6: : Day 6: Namrung to Samagaon (3,530m) – 6-7 Hours
Today’s trek brings you deeper into the high Himalayas, with breathtaking views of Manaslu, Himalchuli, and Ngadi Chuli. You’ll walk through Lihi and Lho, home to a beautiful monastery, before reaching Samagaon, the largest village in the region and a perfect acclimatization point.
  • Day 7: : Day 7: Acclimatization Day in Samagaon
To prepare for higher altitudes, you’ll spend a day exploring Samagaon. A short hike to Birendra Tal (a glacial lake) or Pungyen Gompa (a historic monastery) offers magnificent views of Manaslu’s north face.
  • Day 8: : Samagaon to Samdo (3,860m) – 3-4 Hours
A shorter trek today takes you to Samdo, a high-altitude village near the Tibetan border. The trail offers panoramic Himalayan vistas, and the afternoon can be spent exploring the area or resting for the upcoming pass crossing.
  • Day 9: : Day 9: Acclimatization Day in Samdo
Another acclimatization day allows for an optional hike to Samdo Peak or the Tibetan border, enhancing your stamina and adjusting to the altitude before tackling Larkya La.
  • Day 10: : Day 10: Samdo to Dharamsala (4,460m) – 4-5 Hours
The ascent becomes steeper as you approach Larkya Phedi (Dharamsala), the last settlement before the pass. The rugged, rocky terrain and thinning air signal your proximity to the high Himalayas. Rest early to prepare for the next day’s challenge.
  • Day 11: : Day 11: Cross Larkya La (5,160m) to Bimthang (3,720m) – 8-9 Hours
The most demanding yet rewarding day begins before dawn. A steep climb leads to Larkya La, the trek’s highest point, offering jaw-dropping views of Manaslu, Annapurna II, and Himalchuli. After celebrating at the summit, descend through glacial moraines to Bimthang, a serene valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
  • Day 12:: Day 12: Bimthang to Dharapani (1,860m) – 6-7 Hours
The descent continues through alpine meadows and rhododendron forests, passing Gho and Tilje before reaching Dharapani, where the Manaslu Circuit meets the Annapurna Circuit.
  • Day 13:: Day 13: Drive from Dharapani to Besi Sahar (760m) – 4-5 Hours
A jeep ride takes you down to Besi Sahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region. Enjoy the lush scenery and warmer climate as you transition out of the high Himalayas.
