Gosaikunda Sundarijal is a renowned trekking route in Nepal that combines natural beauty, cultural richness, and spiritual significance. The trek begins at Sundarijal, a scenic area near Kathmandu, and winds through the lush forests of Shivapuri and Langtang National Park, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas, including Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. The trail passes through charming Tamang and Sherpa villages, allowing trekkers to immerse themselves in local traditions and hospitality. One of the highlights is reaching the sacred Gosaikunda Lake, a high-altitude alpine lake at 4,380 meters, revered by both Hindus and Buddhists. According to Hindu mythology, the lake was created by Lord Shiva, who thrust his trident into the mountain to extract water to cool his throat after swallowing poison during the Samudra Manthan 15. The trek is particularly popular during the Janai Purnima festival in August, when thousands of pilgrims visit the lake for a holy dip 310.
