The Tsum Valley, nestled in the remote northern Gorkha district of Nepal, is a hidden gem renowned for its untouched natural beauty and rich Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Often referred to as the "Valley of Vivid" (derived from the Tibetan word Tsombo), it is surrounded by towering peaks like Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, and Baudha Himal, offering breathtaking alpine landscapes, dense rhododendron forests, and cascading waterfalls . The valley remained closed to outsiders until 2008, preserving its ancient culture, where the indigenous Tsumba people practice a unique form of non-violence, abstaining even from animal sacrifice, and maintain centuries-old traditions, monasteries, and mani walls inscribed with Buddhist prayers . Trekkers are drawn to its serene trails, sacred sites like Mu Gompa and Rachen Gompa, and the rare opportunity to experience a way of life untouched by modernity .
