Trip Itinerary

  • Day 1: : Fly to Tumlingtar (460m) → Drive to Khandbari (1,040m)
    30-min flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar.
    1.5hr jeep ride to Khandbari (district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha).
    Overnight: Guesthouse.
  • Day 02:: Trek to Mangmaya (1,800m) – 6hrs
    Gradual climb through terraced fields & Rai villages.
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 03: Trek to Bung (1,950m) – 5hrs
    Enter Arun Valley, cross suspension bridges.
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 04: Trek to Gothey (2,900m) – 6hrs
    Steeper ascent through rhododendron forests.
    First views of Makalu (8,485m) on clear days.
    Overnight: Basic teahouse.
  • Day 05:: Trek to Sanam (3,000m) – 4hrs
    Short day for acclimatization. Explore nearby ridges for panoramic Himalayan views. Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 6:: Cross Salpa Pass (3,350m) → Trek to Guranse (2,800m) – 7hrs
    Highlight day – climb to Salpa Pass (flags & prayer stones mark the top).
    Spectacular views of Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga (on clear days).
    Descend to Guranse (Sherpa village).
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 07: Day 7: Trek to Bung (1,950m) – 5hrs
    Return via a different route through pine forests. Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 08:: Trek to Paiya (2,730m) – 6hrs
    Enter Solu-Khumbu region, merging with the classic Everest trail.
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 09:: Trek to Phakding (2,610m) – 5hrs
    Descend through traditional Sherpa villages.
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 10: Trek to Lukla (2,860m) – 3hrs
    Final trekking day, celebrate in Lukla.
    Overnight: Teahouse.
  • Day 11:: Fly to Kathmandu
    25-min scenic flight back to Kathmandu.
    (Note: Itinerary can be adjusted to continue to Namche Bazaar/EBC if desired.)

  • Nepal entry visa fees (approx. $30 for 15 days, $50 for 30 days)
  • Hotel stays in Kathmandu (often offered as an add-on)
  • Lunches & dinners in Kathmandu (only breakfast may be included if hotel booked)
  • Travel/trekking insurance (must cover high-altitude trekking up to 4,000m + emergency evacuation)
  • Extra costs due to flight cancellations (Lukla flights are weather-dependent)
