What travel documents are required for this Lhasa Mount Kailash Kathmandu tour?
First, Passport Copy advance 30 days require and once you reach Kathmandu you need to obtain a Chinese Visa. With your Chinese visa and a valid passport, you can apply for the Tibet Travel Permit.

As Mount Kailash is situated in the remote western part of the Tibet Autonomous Region, additional travel documents are required for your visit, such as the Alien’s Travel Permit and the Military Permit.

Trip Itinerary

  • Day 01:: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)
    Meet and greet at Tribhuvan International Airport. Briefing about the tour. Overnight in Kathmandu.
  • Day 2: : Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation
    Visit Pashupatinath Temple (sacred Hindu shrine). Explore Boudhanath Stupa (one of the largest Buddhist stupas). Final permit checks and packing for the journey. Overnight in Kathmandu.
  • Day 03:: Drive Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,550m) – 8-9 hrs
    Scenic drive through Nepal’s hills and rivers. Overnight in Syabrubesi.
  • Day 04:: Cross Nepal-China Border (Kerung/Gyirong) – Drive to Saga (4,600m) – 6-7 hrs
    Complete immigration formalities at Kerung (Gyirong) border. Drive through Himalayan valleys to Saga. First night in Tibet (acclimatization). Overnight in Saga.
  • Day 05:: Drive Saga to Lake Manasarovar (4,560m) – 7-8 hrs
    First glimpse of Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. Holy dip in Manasarovar (optional). Sunset meditation by the lake. Overnight at Chiu Gompa (guesthouse).
  • Day 6: : Manasarovar to Darchen (4,560m) – 1 hr drive
    Morning rituals at Lake Manasarovar. Short drive to Darchen (base camp for Kailash Kora). Rest and acclimatization. Overnight in Darchen.
  • Day 7: : Begin Kailash Kora – Trek to Dirapuk (4,900m) – 7-8 hrs
    Start the sacred parikrama (circumambulation). Trek past Yam Dwar (Gate of the God of Death). Views of Kailash North Face. Overnight at Dirapuk Monastery (guesthouse).
  • Day 8: : Trek to Zuthulpuk (4,760m) via Dolma La Pass (5,630m) – 8-9 hrs
    Challenging climb to Dolma La Pass (highest point of the trek). Descend to Gauri Kund (sacred lake). Reach Zuthulpuk (caves of miracles). Overnight in Zuthulpuk.
  • Day 9: : End Kora – Return to Darchen – Drive to Manasarovar – 4-5 hrs
    Final trek segment to Darchen (2-3 hrs). Drive back to Lake Manasarovar. Rest and reflection. Overnight near Manasarovar.
  • Day 10: : Drive Manasarovar to Tirthapuri (4,400m) – 6-7 hrs
    Visit Tirthapuri Hot Springs (associated with Guru Rinpoche). Explore caves and temples. Overnight in Tirthapuri.
  • Day 11:: Drive Tirthapuri to Zanda (3,700m) – 5-6 hrs
    Scenic drive through remote western Tibet. Visit Guge Kingdom ruins (ancient Tibetan empire). Overnight in Zanda.
  • Day 12: : Drive Zanda to Saga (4,600m) – 8-9 hrs
    Long drive back through vast Tibetan plateaus. Overnight in Saga.
  • Day 13:: Drive Saga to Kerung (2,800m) – 6-7 hrs
    Return journey via Himalayan landscapes. Overnight in Kerung.
  • Day 14: : Kerung to Kathmandu – 7-8 hrs
    Cross back into Nepal. Drive to Kathmandu. Celebration dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.
  • Day 15: : Free Day in Kathmandu
    Free Day in Kathmandu Optional sightseeing or shopping. Relax and reflect on the journey. Overnight in Kathmandu.
  • Day 16: : Departure from Kathmandu
    Transfer to the airport for departure.
